Interactivity

Interactivity is a big buzz word around computers. It should be noted that, as of yet, there isn't what I would call true interactivity on the computer unless you are discussing chat rooms and MU*s. In these environments you are actually interacting with someone else and the results can be unpredictable as they are shaped by all involved (although some would say their interaction with the computer is one full of unpredictability). What I believe all of these people are trying to say with interactivity, is that within the medium of the web you have a variety of choices in terms of links and where you want to go when. So, you are interacting with the web in a sense. Maybe it would be better to say that you are acting out on the web, making choices, going wherever your heart desires. Twined with this, is the idea of non-linearity; there doesn't have to be a set start or a set end, you can click around as long as you please.
